The Arab Bankers Association: at the Heart of Middle East Finance in London

Membership of the Arab Bankers Association (ABA) takes you straight to the heart of London’s Middle East financial scene. Whether your field is banking, investment, asset management, or one of the professions that serve those industries, the ABA gives you access to the leading individuals and institutions that are doing the deals and shaping the future.

The Arab Bankers Association is the only professional organisation in the U.K. dedicated to the Arab banking sector and to those working in or with Arab banks in London.

Thoughout the year, the Association holds evening seminars that address current developments in financial markets as well as related areas such as the real estate, immigration and the oil/energy. Recent seminars have addressed the Senior Managers Regime introduced by the UK regulators in March 2016, cyber security for banks, and foreign exchange and commodity markets. These seminars are followed by a buffet reception to enable the participants to mix with the speakers, as well as each other.

Our corporate members also benefit from invitation-only lunches that are hosted by experts in specific fields. Attendance is limited to around 15 with the hosting firm providing two or three senior staff. Recent lunches have addressed bank executives' exposure to personal liability under new UK regulations, and changing rules on privacy and disclosure, for example in relation to investment trusts.

We host three social events during the year. The Gala dinner, held in October or November, attracts about 250 guests and is recognised as the premier social gathering for Arab Bankers in London. We also hold a holiday party around the end of Ramadan and a Christmas party.

Through our programme of events, our website and Arab Banker magazine, as well as through personal introductions via the ABA office, the Association is able to help those working in the Arab banking industry to promote their services, reach new clients, and achieve their goals.
