EVENT: VG Gives Presentation on Jersey Trust Structures
Date: 4th April, 2019 Time: 12:30 pm - 02:00 pm
VG, the Jersey-based trust and service firm, hosted a lunch for ABA Corporate Members on 4 April, during which three of their senior executives briefed ABA corporate members on legal aspects of trust and tax structures in Jersey, and made particular reference to Shari'ah-compliant transactions.
VG has been providing advice to clients on Shari'ah-compliant structures for more than 20 years. During the presentation, Trevor Norman, the firm's Director for Islamic Finance and Funds showed how a Shari'ah-compliant real estate transaction might differ from a conventional transaction, and how elements of conventional finance and Shari'ah-compliant finance can be combined in a single transaction. He also updated attendees on how rules related to Capital Gains Tax and interest distribution are changing.
Mark Huckner, VG's Managing Director, and Claire Malkhoun, the firm's Director for Business Development, explained how the legal and regulatory aspects of trust structures have been changing and how these structures are now managed when based in Jersey.
VG's presentation is attached below and it includes the contact details for Calire Malkhoun, Mark Huckner, and Trevor Norman. Although based in Jersey, all three, and other colleagues, are frequently in London and are happy to meet with those seeking to understand whether Jersey-based structures could be beneficial to their businesses.
This lunch is one of the several that we are holding over the course of the year for our corporate members. The next will be hosted by the World Gold Council on 13 June.
