EVENT: ABA hosts meeting between Arab banks and regulators
Date: 22nd January, 2020 Time: 02:30 pm - 04:30 pm
We hosted seven officials from the UK's Prudential Regulation Authority in our offices on 22 January as part of our regular programme to facilitate dialogue between UK regulators and government and the London Arab banking community.
The PRA team was led by Tanveer Hussain, the Head of the Authority's Overseas Banking Division. He was joined by Trevor Jones and Carole Desfrancois, also from the Overseas Banking Division; Margarita Michail, a Senior Supervisor overseeing Operational Resilience; Sarah Kemmit, the Manager of the PRA's Climate Hub; David Bright, a Senior Manager, and Aparna Bindal, a Manager.
The presentations and discussions were held under the Chatham House rule.
The principal topics discussed were the areas of risk on which the PRA is currently focussing, the PRA's work and expectations on operational resilience, its work and emerging expectations on how banks should respond to the climate change agenda, and recent interactions with home regulators in the Middle East.
The heads of eleven Arab banks in London attended, along with senior members of their staff.
