Six ABA members were named among The Banker Magazine's Best Banks at the magazine's annual award ceremony in London on 8 December.

Ahli United Bank, the parent of ABA member Ahli United Bank (UK), was named the best bank in the Middle East and the best bank in Bahrain.

Arab Bank, the parent of ABA member Europe Arab Bank, was named the best bank in Jordan.

National Bank of Kuwait was named best bank in Kuwait.

Blom Bank, the parent of ABA member Blom Bank France was named best bank in Lebanon.

Qatar National Bank was named best bank in Qatar.

Emirates NBD was named best bank in the United Arab Emirates.

The magazine made awards in 149 countries and also made five regional awards. Winning banks are identified by a judging committee that considers various factors that affect bank performance. The magazine says, "There are many factors to consider when making an award. Financial performance is important but doesn't win by iteself. To really impress the judges, banks must also score highly in articulating the strategy that drove their financial performance and how they overcame regulatory, competitive and ecoomic hurdles." The judges also consider banks' digital strategies and their use of new technology."
