ABA welcomes Jelf Insurance as a new Corporate Member
We are pleased to welcome Jelf Insurance as our newest Corporate Member.
Paul England and John Beaver will be Jelf’s points of contacts with the Arab Bankers Association. (In the photo, Paul is on the right and John is on the left.)
Both Paul and John are Private Client Executives within the Jelf network and are responsible for managing the needs of existing clients as well as developing new business. They are focussed on providing bespoke service that meets the individual needs of high net worth clients and businesses.
What sets Jelf apart is its understanding of individual client needs, and an ability to execute quickly. “We build relationships, we give advice and, where appropriate, we sell insurance,” says Paul.
Paul and John have 55 years of insurance experience and over the years they have provided advice, and insurance, for items such as super-cars, jewellery, antique furniture, fine art, and properties.”
They also have the expertise to understand where ‘off the shelf’ insurance policies might fall short, leaving a customer exposed to loss. John gives an example: “If you are renting a high-value apartment and make significant improvements before or when you move in – by laying a new floor, for example, or re-covering walls with expensive materials, or replacing the bathrooms or the kitchen – you may find that the standard insurance policy from the managing agents does not cover the work you have done leaving you financially exposed in the event of a loss. We can spot these things and advise clients when they need to look beyond standard solutions.”
“Speed is also important,” adds Paul. “If a client has bought an expensive item of jewellery, they need it insured immediately. We can do that – we answer the phone, whatever time of day it rings.”
Both Paul and John can draw on the experience of the whole Jelf Group, which has 63 branches and 3,000 staff in the UK. Beyond that, Jelf can draw on the experience and financial strength of its parent, Marsh & McLennan.
So why is Jelf joining the Arab Bankers Association? “We are not strangers to the Middle East,” says Paul. “I have worked with literally hundreds of Middle Eastern clients in the past. We are hoping to provide services to both Middle East institutions – both banks and non-banks, to their clients, and directly to members of the Arab Bankers Association: these are institutions and individuals with very specific insurance needs that are often not covered by standard insurance policies and which need to be carefully assessed.”
Both Paul and John have already attended ABA events, so some of you may have met them. If you haven’t, do introduce yourself.
