Stuart is an experienced investor and structurer of Islamic Finance transactions across multiple asset classes, with 15 years’ experience in the sector.
An Arabic speaker, he started his career working for Noor Investment in Kuwait, establishing a number of Sharia-compliant listed equity investment funds.
Returning to his native London to work for Gatehouse Bank, Stuart established the $1bn Milestone Sukuk issuance platform and led the inaugural issuance. He also structured and acquired about £200m of Sharia-compliant direct real estate investments, as well as setting up Gatehouse Bank’s representative office in Kuala Lumpur.
Moving to Amiri Capital, the London based boutique investment advisory firm, Stuart lead the firm's real estate investment origination and structuring activities. Amiri Capital’s client base was predominently in the Middle East and Stuart was their principal point of contact.
Since the spring of 2018, Stuart has been an Investment Director for Rosette Merchant Bank, originating and structuring both sukuk and direct real estate investment opportunities.
He holds a BA (hons) in Arabic with Anthropology and a MA in Islamic Political Economy, both from the University of Durham. He is an associate member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments, as a holder of the Islamic Finance Qualification.
In his spare time, Stuart is a Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute, a member of the Royal Institute of International Affairs at Chatham House and writes an adventurous travel blog.
